Modernist cuisine in the heart of Chicago
A three-Michelin-star tasting menu from Chef Grant Achatz, where each course is designed to surprise, delight, and linger long after the last bite.
Our Story
Since 2005, Alinea has redefined what a meal can be. Under Chef Grant Achatz — a James Beard Award winner and pioneer of modernist American cuisine — the kitchen treats every plate as an invitation to wonder.
Aromas suspended in the air. Desserts painted across the table. Flavors that arrive in an order you never expected. Dining here is less a transaction than a performance — one that engages every sense and rewrites your idea of a great restaurant.
“We want to provoke emotion — to make you feel something you didn’t expect from a plate of food.”
Grant Achatz · Chef & Owner

Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience — the food and the service were flawless from start to finish.
The most flavorful dishes were the Thai, Japanese, and Mexican inspired plates. Every course told a story.
Our server plated the creamy sweet potato with whipped goat cream and nuts right at the table. Pure theatre.
